Rangoli is a traditional art that has been preserved over the ages. Rangoli is an integral part of Hindu Culture and rangoli designs are used to celebrate Hindu festivals and ceremonies.
Rangoli in Bharat (India) is probably one of the most popular traditional arts. It is an art of drawing designs on the floor with various colors and beautiful patterns.
It is a highly impressive but relatively inexpensive form of decoration.
It is spread throughout Bharat and is referred by different names like kolam, mandana, muggu, arpan, alpan, puvidal, sanjhi, sathiya, chowk purna, rangavali etc.
As per the availability of resources in the regions; different materials are included in the designs like rice flour, rice paste, clay paste, flowers, petals, leaves, pulses, sand, pebbles, seeds etc.
Kolam is considered to usher in prosperity and peace to a temple and home and so is drawn daily in the morning..
It is also a form of devotion where you offer a grand design to please the deities and get their blessings.
Sanskar Bharti was founded to preserve and popularize the various art forms of Bharat.
Sanskar Bharti Rangoli is a very famous rangoli style. It has been taught to thousands of people by conducting work shops and classes.
It is a free-hand rangoli style where designs are drawn either with three fingers, five fingers (Paach Boti as said in Marathi) or with fist.
Nowadays, rangolis are drawn using a funnel or a special rangoli pen.
The spciality of Sanskar Bharti Rangoli is hundreds of artists / non-artists can be involved in making giant rangoli in play grounds or roads covering several kilometers.
Traditionally, Sanskar Bharti Rangoli are round in shape and the size of rangoli depends upon the number of circles.
Sanskar Bharti Rangolis can also be rectangular in shapes which are called Galicha (carpet) rangoli.
