Poha Chiwada Recipe


Ingredients

( 1 ) 500 grams rice flakes
( 2 ) 2 cup groundnuts
( 3 ) 10 to 12 cashewnuts
( 4 ) 10 to 12 raisins
( 5 ) A few curry leaves
( 6 ) 7 to 8 green chillies
( 7 ) 1 tea spoon red chilli powder
( 8 ) 1 tea spoon turmeric powder
( 9 ) 2 tea spoons powdered sugar
(10) 2 tea spoons sesame seeds
(11) 1 tea spoon fennel seeds
(12) 2 tea spoons sugar (granulated)
(13) 2 tea spoon citric acid
(14) Oil
(15) Salt to taste

Method

( 1 ) Fry the poha (rice flakes) using a sieve like frying spoon.
( 2 ) Fry groundnuts, cashewnuts, raisins, curry leaves and green chillies. Add salt, turmeric powder, powdered sugar, sesame seeds, citric acid and fennel seeds. Mix properly.
( 3 ) Add granulated sugar. Go on adding red chilli powder and turmeric powder to rice flakes while they are being fried so that the chiwada gets the right color.
